Instacart, Publix Launch Virtual Express Lane

Instacart and regional grocer Publix expanded their relationship earlier this month to launch a new delivery option that acts as a virtual express lane. Dubbed “Publix Quick Picks,” the new virtual storefront is available across Publix's seven-state footprint, and allows shoppers to shop the grocer’s wide assortment, including grocery, pantry and household essentials, with Instacart’s 30-minute “priority delivery.” 

Publix Quick Picks made its debut in Tampa, Florida, back in September. Following the successful pilot program, the partners expanded the service across Publix's more than 1,200 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia ahead of the holiday season.

"Customer demand for convenience and rapid delivery continues to grow, and both speed and selection have become fundamental to grocery e-commerce,” said Chris Rogers, vice president of retail at Instacart, in a recent media release. “We're proud to expand our partnership with Publix to bring the in-store express lane online with Publix Quick Picks."

Publix Quick Picks is available via Instacart’s “Convenience Hub,” a marketplace product feature that aims to streamline the shopping experience, and on Publix’s brand hub within The service is meant to primarily appeal to shoppers who need just a few items quickly to supplement their weekly grocery shopping, according to Instacart.

Publix first partnered with Instacart in 2016 to offer its shoppers same-day, one-hour delivery. The partners also offer curbside pick up from nearly all stores as well as alcohol delivery and pickup in select states including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The partnership also supports EBT SNAP payment integration across all Publix e-commerce properties powered by Instacart.
