It'Sugar Opens Experiential Candy Shop in Chicago

More Information

"America has always had a love affair with sugary treats like candy," said Jeff Rubin, CEO & founder of ItS'ugar, in a news release. "We have captured this love affair in our stores that are filled with America's beloved candy brands... With the grandest assortment of confectionery treats and popular licensed merchandise, we are looking forward to bringing another sugar-filled emporium to Chicagoans."

"We have created an environment that fosters the greatest feeling of happiness," Rubin added. "At It’Sugar, it is not only about taste, but also about attitude and visitors experience playfulness as soon as they walk into one of our locations."

U.S. specialty candy retailer It'Sugar has opened an 11,400-square-foot experiential pop-up location on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, taking over space recently vacated by the Disney Store. The new It’Sugar location opened its doors on Thursday, April 7, ahead of Easter on April 17 and in time for spring and summer tourists and visitors.

Upon entering the colorful candy department store, an 11-foot Ferris wheel candy display surrounded by a lollipop garden merchandising over a thousand lollipops and a Chicago skyline made entirely out of jellybeans commands shoppers attention. The store pays homage to Chicago, which was long deemed the "Candy Capital of the World," by spotlighting notable brands with deep roots in the Windy City, including Ferrara Candy Co.'s Nerds, Tootsie Roll Industries' namesake brand and Charms Blow Pops, and Wrigley's Gum.

The store also houses over two dozen candy stations stocking nearly 400 different kinds of candy by the pound, including exclusive flavors of Mars Wrigley Confectionery's Skittles, Mondelez International's Sour Patch Kids and Pez candy and dispensers, to give shoppers a personalized candy experience.

Dedicated departments within the store spotlight beloved brands including the aforementioned three brands, plus Mars' M&M's and Starburst, The Hershey Co.'s Reese's and Mondelez's Oreo. The branded shop-in-shops are filled with unique confections, quirky candy-themed gifts and giant branded characters throughout the store.

The experiential store also includes immersive areas devoted to retro and international candy and TikTok-trending treats, according to the release, to offer sugar enthusiasts with "playful entertainment."

It'Sugar was founded by Jeff Rubin in 2006 and calls itself a "retailtainer," with 100 locations in the U.S. In 2020, It'Sugar collaborated with Mondelez to open a dedicated Sour Patch Kids store in New York. The retailer is a member of BBX Capital Corporation's family of companies and a subsidiary of BBX Sweet Holdings, LLC.
